S. Carter makes her living looking good and making you look good as a model, make-up artist and hair stylist. S. Carter is definitely the gem in this issue of Craze Magazine.

As for Craze magazine, I actually like what they are going for with their layout and art style. The crazy backgrounds and collage effects are kool. What they need to do to make me a fan is dial down the slick on the models by about 50% and use the picture in picture effect a little more sparingly.

What’s on your iPod?
A little bit of everything. I have an eclectic musical palette.

What do you love most about The 305?
I love how tropical and full of culture it is. I am proud to call Miami home.

The oil spill could threaten Miami’s beaches, what do you think we should do with the execs at BP?
Yes it can and this is a huge concern. The explosion happened April 20th, and I think that it is ridiculous that they still have not found the solution. It breaks my heart to see how much of our wild life has died and/or suffering and immobile because of the oil that is covering them. I know that they have placed a new cap on the leak in hopes to catch every drop of oil, but they know that this would only be temporary relief. They have stated that the permanent solution would be to plug it up by drilling in mud and cement, but they say that it is still weeks away. Why is this still weeks away? Shouldn’t we start working on the permanent solution NOW??

What is your guilty pleasure?
Sushi, Vodka , & Sex.

What’s your personal style, what do you feel comfortable wearing?
My style is based on the kind of mood I’m in that day. I can go from sweats, to being fully glammed up, to a little funky. I love it all, I have fun with it. I’m not afraid to mix it up.

You’ve said you prefer dinner, movie and bowling instead of going out. What’s your average bowling score? Everyone has a victory move when they bowl a strike, what’s yours?
I’ve never kept track of all my scores to get my average, but my highest has been 220. As for my victory move it’s very spontaneous, its what ever comes over me in the moment of excitement.

What’s the last movie you saw you liked?
Honestly I haven’t had the time to go to the movies lately and I know that these are older movies, but I just seen “City of God” and “Crash” for the first time not long ago, and I loved them!

Who has inspired you most in your career? How?
Jennifer Lopez. She is an inspiration to me because of her drive, hustle, and the way that she took the industry over. Starting off as a fly girl/ doing videos and turning it into such a successful career.

One thing that your fans do not know about you?
I LOVE to cook. I’ll cook up a feast with no problem. My favorite part of it all is watching everyone enjoy what I’ve made.

What’s next for you? Any last words?

I decided I needed a new look to chose from. It was getting boring. And color makes me happy; it really excites me. You see, I’m a very visual person. And when I look in the mirror, and I see green and I see pink, it does something to my attitude. It makes me feel very positive.

Kenya Moore model, actress, entrepreneur, producer, and of course former Miss America, was kind enough to share some words with me and entertain my questions.

What’s the pageant circuit really like? Do you ever miss it?
Ha! Loaded question. It’s very interesting and for the most part very fun. On the national level i.e. At Miss USA it was extremely competitive. But I had the most fun and most memorable experiences at the Miss Universe pageant. I was best friends with Miss India who also made it to be a finalist. I remember that she was gorgeous and so obsessed with Kevin Costner. It was the best time of my life.

You’ve been on so many different television shows! What’s your most favorite show you’ve worked on thus far and what made it a great experience?
Wow that is tough to say. I had a lot of fun doing Martin and people always remember me being “Mrs. Bozack”. It wasn’t until later that someone told me that was a play on words. So the writers had a lot of fun with our show. Martin was great. I also thought Will Smith was a sweetheart. The Fresh Prince was a very good experience. Honestly, I can’t think of any bad experiences while working on TV.

Can you tell us about the Kenya Moore Foundation?
We award scholarships to troubles girls from my high school alma mater. I love Detroit and I identify with girls who struggle during high school and pull themselves up and strive to be the best person they can be despite their circumstances.

I read you like bungee jumping. What was your first jump like? Would you consider yourself a bit of an adrenaline junkie?
I actually have not jumped yet! No, I’m not an adrenaline junkie. I just like to do different things. I’m actually terrified of heights but I fight past my fear.

I read on IMDB that your film, “The Confidant” is completed, and it’s the first production under your company’s banner. Can you tell us a little bit about it?
It stars Boris Kodjoe, David Banner, Billy Zane, Richard Roundtree, Bai Ling and myself and is written and directed by Alton Glass. It opens August 24, 2010. I’m very proud of this film and the work the actors put in to make it successful. It’s a thriller and you don’t see many predominately black cast movies that are thrillers, but my director did and amazing job with the script and it’s really good.

What’s a typical day in your life like?
LOL! All I can say is I would be filthy rich if I had a reality show. No one would guess what I’m really like or the daily drama that occurs. Being a producer is no joke. And my life places me in very unstable territory. Everyone around me says I need a reality show. I’ve been pitched everything including a pageant show, and a dating show. No one can make up the stuff I go through in a day. Problem is I’m extremely private so I can’t see myself letting cameras into my home.

I read that your Grandmother has been a real inspiration to you in your life. What do you see in her that inspires you the most?
Everything. She is an angel. I can’t thank God enough for her. I have angels all around me and I believe I am truly a blessed child. My grandmother has always been my model for grace, elegance, class, beauty and intelligence, patience… I wish I had more of that.

Any plans for another book? “Game, Get Some” must have been a fun book to write! Any quick tips you can share with the guys?
Yes! Invisible will be out 2011. It is a memoir about my life growing up with a undiagnosed mentally ill mother. It’s taking me years to write because it was so painful. But I’m very proud of my work as an author and my wish is that Invisible will inspire other young girls.

The Laura Dore SHOWPiece in London issue is on stands now. I thumbed through the pages and picked my 12 favorites which were mostly two page images. Like all the other SHOWcase, SHOWPiece and Paradise issues, it is pure gold.

I can’t wait for my 2011 pin-up calendar to come out! I had so much fun shooting it. I shot it with Shannon Brooke, and every month is based on a famous pinup painting. We recreated the work of Gil Elgvren, Olivia and Vargas just to name a few. Jen did a fantastic job doing the time period makeup while Diana was somehow able to pull together the outfits similar to those featured in the classic illustrations. Danielle did incredible with the retro-inspired hair, and Conner built the wonderful sets. We shot for two days straight, and had so much fun doing it….Despite us working ten hour days, the experience was well worth it, and it should be on stands near the end of July.

The new issue of King Magazine is on the stands it is packed, page after page, with beauty. I guess it helped that the editors took their game to the West Coast for this issue.

Speaking of beauty, former video vixen Sakara Ross made her name in Lil Wayne’s “Got Money”, David Banner’s “Shawty Say” and DJ Khaled’s “We Taking Over” among dozens of other videos. Since 2009 she has been focusing on taking it to the next level as an actress.

On the challenges of being a black woman in Hollywood…

At first I was intimidated to go into acting because of that stereotype. Then I put my fears aside and put my all into it, just as I’ve done with track. All in all, I refuse to be a woman, in years to come, saying, “I could’ve done that.” If I don’t try, I am already beat – and I refuse to be beat. I am a survivor. I have plans and I’ve set goals for myself, so I am going to soar no matter what.

Asked about what other models in the game she likes…

Honestly, I think there are a lot of beautiful women in the business. I do not have favorites, but I do commend the girls who are in the industry for the right reasons. I think there are so many girls that want to be models just to be in magazines, music videos, and don’t have the knowledge to know that those are just the stepping stones, not the overall foundation. They are content with just doing magazines and music videos, just to be seen and they have no clue. They have not given themselves the opportunity to develop an objective or to educate themselves in order to be successful in this game. And its unfortunate, but I can only focus on my motives and challenges in this game.

What’s your current theme song?
Hmmm… No specific theme song but my current “life soundtrack” includes the new Roots album, Nneka, and Bun B’s New Joint.

What puts a smile on your face?
Good food, great wine, genuine people.

You two are a dangerous combo, how do you bond and chill?
LOL, that’s not the first time we’ve heard that. We compliment each other not just physically but also socially. We host a lot of events together so we typically try to catch up then & get into some shenanigans.

Vanessa, being a comic book nerd, what do you like about superheros?
I absolutely love comic books and the heroes and villains within. It’s an art form in its own lane. Superheros in great comics are better than any movie character. They are complex ways that seldom seem to translate over when comics are adapted to film.

And who would you be?
That’s hard to say. I see bits & pieces of myself in many comic characters. Emma Frost, Phoenix, Black Widow, etc…

Who would Brooke be?
Brooke would be Ms Marvel. So bad ass, but with a good heart.

I liked how you both responded to King on the whole Sandra Rose nonsense. Do you think the anonymity of the internet just fuels that kind of thing?
Thank you. It is what it is. I don’t place to much stock into what devout readers of gossip blogs think of me. I do think they are fueled by anonymity. I personally know celebs, publicists, and managers that admit to and even brag about leaking stories(positive & negative, truth & lies) to blogs for publicity. Readers drink the kool-aid not knowing they are just a pawn in a big game.

What do you think about the idea of people having to use their real names on the internet?
I don’t think it’s a bad idea at all! But people who want to remain anonymous will always find a way to do so. Kind of like the models and their team memebers that use this and other sites to hate on competition under aliases. I find it comical. Your demographic isn’t comprised totally of lambs Black. I know most of them see right through it!

Your are both social media junkies, how do you keep up?
I’m so happy to be living in this age of technology. I’m humbled that I get to connect with people all over the globe that have seen my work, and others that share my same interests.

Ever feel too connected?
Yes. I love twitter, but I’ve learned the hard way to not tell people where I am all the time. Scary.

Android or iPhone?
I’m addicted to my crackberry right now. I’m actually trying to decide on the Evo or iPhone4 as a secondary but everyone seems so on the fence about both. So maybe your readers can give me their input?

What’s been the best part of about working together on the Candy Shop?
Working with Brooke on the Candy Shop is so much fun for me because combined we have a ton of experience in entertainment as talent and behind the scenes, however neither of us have formal training in radio. We are learning as we go. Trial and error. Laughing our asses off.

What can we expect from the show in the future?
We are currently changing the day/time of the show so we can bring some exciting technical changes like a skype interface, and of course great guests & hot topics.

Do you listen to any other PodCasts out there?
I download a few but I really only have time to listen to the Freakanomics podcast, Action Radio, & Joy Daily (www.joydaily.com).

What next?
I have a very sexy magazine layout shot with an infamous photographer it is a secret but will be out in September.

I’m also proud to say I was chosen as the very first Slickforce Girl. A massive project Nick Saglimbeni is working on. So look for that in the near future.

Any final words?
As always I want to say thank you to my fans, and really anyone who took the time to read this interview. Even though most of us urban and glamour models aren’t given the same respect as our high-fashion counterparts, we are however, given a voice. Shout out to those who use it!

I was raised in Sacramento, CA (Yeah! go KINGS!!) and now reside in Orange County, CA. I was a very outgoing person back in high school. I cheered for the varsity cheerleading squad the last two years of high school and I was the A.S.B. Rally Commissioner. I loved to do hip hop dances in school, so my friends and I would choreograph routines for our rallies! I’ve always loved anything that had to do with entertainment. When I was young… and you know you get that “what do you want to be when you grow up?” question. I would always say, “I want to be a model or a background dancer for Janet Jackson.”

Lisa’s last tweet puts her touring Taiwan, so we wish you well while you’re globe-trotting, and a safe return to SoCal.

Including raising money for breast cancer and KnockOuts for Girls (KO4G) a non-profit organization that uses the discipline of boxing to build self esteem, inspire the human spirit, and promote physical fitness to help people facing challenges worldwide.
